ABOUT OCEANIC WATERBABIES

In 1991, Kelly Rae created the Waterbabies™ program in Perth, Western Australia. The program has evolved from a deep and unrelenting passion to provide the very best education, guidance and support for parents wishing to teach their babies to swim.

Kelly Rae’s own children were her primary teachers in understanding the importance of the parent child relationship in water and have been the motivation behind this highly successful program. Kelly’s mentor was infant aquatic expert, Cookie Harkin of Babyswim Australia.

As of August 2004, our program guides over 1,300 parents each week in teaching their babies to swim.

To provide further excellence in infant aquatic education, our vision is to build a sustainable, energy efficient and purpose built centre in Perth, Western Australia.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

EDUCATION AND SUPPORT

When teaching a baby to swim, we know parents can make the best teachers, providing they receive ongoing education, guidance and support. Our program provides this essential care for parents as they progress through the ever-changing ages and stages of their child’s development.

Our program aims to develop and strengthen the natural bond between parent and child. This is achieved through directing parent awareness to their child’s unique body language and emotional needs. We call this “doing it with your child, not to them.”

OPPORTUNITY = POTENTIAL

Doing it with your child” enhances their trust and creates a safer, more enjoyable learning environment. As these feelings of trust expand, so will their natural love of learning and their connection to the water.

Our stimulating early childhood development program offers opportunities to realise individual potential from the earliest possible age. Each child can experience the freedom to explore and master different skills without pressure to achieve.
