Introductory seminar

A keystone in the foundation of teaching your baby to swim

introductory seminar

The Waterbabies® introductory seminar is important! It is our program pre-requisite and creates the foundation from which parents and their babies will develop their unique swimming relationship together.

To make it possible for parents to do the best they can for their baby, our seminar will provide essential education and a sound understanding of the program. Both parents are encouraged to come along, however the parent/s intending on swimming with their baby must attend. Seminars are held regularly through the year, and prior to the start of each new term.

What the introductory seminar will cover:

  • The best age to teach your baby to swim and why?
  • The ages and stages of how your baby develops in water: a realistic perspective of what can be achieved
  • Understand your baby’s breathing reflexes and what role these play in submersion
  • Safe and happy submersion
  • Health benefits and concerns
  • The pool environment
  • Waterbabies teachers
  • Parent duty of care
  • Class dynamics
  • General program information
  • Video footage of babies 12 weeks to 5 years
